Get to know who’s behind the Roaring Fork Audubon
Youth Out Reach DirectorJanell Togno
I have been an animal lover my whole life. I have always felt most like myself when I am outside enjoying nature and all it has to offer. I feel a deep reverence and respect for all life from the animals to the plants and feel beyond lucky to live in the Roaring Fork Valley. I feel a deep reverence and respect for this place and all our shared inhabitants and feel it is our job to steward this land and all who share it. I hope to continue to observe and learn from these mountains, streams and forests and to give voice to the small, often overlooked voices of birds, beavers, plants and beyond. My hope for my time with Roaring Fork Audubon is to connect others to wilderness and cultivate an appreciation for wildlife and their precious habitat so they too can experience the wonder of wilderness for many generations to come.
Sheehan Meagher
Sheehan Meagher joined Roaring Fork Audubon as our Beaver Believer Intern in April 2025. He realizes the benefits of birds and how beavers help create habitats to foster bird populations. He has an Associate of Science in Environmental Science and Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management. He has earned his EPA Watershed Technician Level 1 certificate and is working to complete his Beaver Wetland Professional certification from the Beaver Institute. An organization that specializes in co-existence with beavers and non-lethal tools which will directly carry over to the Roaring Fork Valley. When not working with landowners on how to co-exist or trapping and relocating beaver, he leads educational opportunities on importance of native plants to ecosystem resiliency and works on riparian restoration projects with various partners using beaver mimicry. If you’ve got property and want to welcome beaver or have a conflict and would like a free consultation, please reach out! When he is not working with RFA, he is the Outdoor Programs Coordinator for Wilderness Workshop and an adjunct faculty member at Colorado Mountain College.
